About Osha Davidson
I'm a nature photographer and desert rat, author and screenwriter. I've photographed on all continents except Antarctica (still hoping to get there!), but for now I'm concentrating on images of the desert Southwest where I've lived and camped for the last 20 years. My work has appeared in National Geographic, Scientific American, NASA's Earthzine, Sierra, the New York Times, Inside Climate News, Forbes, and other publications. Since 2016 I've been lead photographer for the Central Arizona Conservation Alliance. Other clients include the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden and The Nature Conservancy. If you browse through my galleries you'll see a have a pretty eclectic body of work. That's because I'm always experimenting with new techniques or resurrecting old ones. The only constant is the attempt to make images that create in the viewer the emotional resonance I felt when seeing the subject for the first time. My desert landscape and wildlife images are in the permanent collections at the Sandra Day O'Conner Federal Courthouse in Phoenix, the Evo A. DeConcini Federal Building in Tucson, and the U.S. Bank Headquarters in Scottsdale. My work has been greatly enhanced by fellowships awarded by the Heinrich Boell Foundation (Berlin), the Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment (Florida), Murray Fromson Media Mission (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel), and the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources (Montana).
